Protecting your Forest

When fires cannot be controlled by ground forces it is necessary to operate by air, facilitating greater speed, quantity of liquid transported, precision of "throw" and number of available aircraft. SILVANI has designed and built all the SAA modules used for extinguishing forest fires in Italy with the G222 Alenia aircraft. This experience was followed by the design and construction of the SAA-C130 module, for the Hercules aircraft.

In collaboration with Agusta Elicotteri and with the Civil Protection and Defence Ministries, SILVANI has designs, constructed and patented the SAA-E module, used in dozens of operations on fires that were easily extinguished, thanks to the large twin-engine helicopter CH47 "Chinook". The SAA-E module is capable of considerably improving the fire fighting capability of helicopters. Its use allows an increase in the quantity of extinguishing liquid transported, the transfer speed, the number of missions and the precision of "throw", reducing accident risk and damage that other system cause.

The possibility to take water from any source (spring, reservoir, lake, river) permits the use of "soft" water that, mixed with the specific retarding liquid for forest use, significantly increases the efficiency of the fire fighting intervention. SILVANI manufactures the SAA system for aircraft C27J, G222, C130, as well as for helicopter CH47.
